Client Spotlight: BeeJay’s Experience

April 13, 2026

Bernard Washington, Owner

At INSPYRE, we’re proud to support founders who are building businesses with purpose. Bernard Washington, owner of BeeJay’s Experience, is doing just that, creating high-quality food experiences while growing his impact across the community.

What problem are you most passionate about solving?
I’m passionate about solving the lack of consistency and care in food service, especially in community settings. Too often, people are served meals that are just “good enough.” I want every plate from BeeJay’s Experience to feel intentional, flavorful, and made with pride, whether it’s a school lunch, corporate event, or family gathering.

Where did the name of your company come from?
BeeJay’s comes from my name, Bernard Washington, but it represents something bigger. The “Experience” reflects what I stand for. It’s not just about serving food, it’s about creating moments people remember. Hospitality, culture, and connection are at the center of everything we do.

What’s a recent milestone or win for your company?
A major win has been expanding our reach with institutional clients and consistently serving large-scale events, sometimes for hundreds of people, while maintaining quality. Launching an updated menu with both breakfast and lunch offerings has also been a big step forward. BeeJay’s was also recently recognized by CenterState CEO as a Growth + Equity Fund grant recipient, supporting continued growth and expansion. What’s next for you or your team?
Growth and expansion. I’m focused on building a stronger team, securing long-term contracts, and entering new markets. I’m also working on strengthening systems and operations, bringing on support staff, and eventually opening a physical space that fully represents the BeeJay’s Experience.

How has INSPYRE supported your journey so far?
INSPYRE has provided a space to connect, grow, and think bigger. Being surrounded by driven individuals has pushed me to elevate not only my business, but how I show up as a leader.

What are you most looking forward to about being part of INSPYRE?
Collaboration and visibility. I’m excited to build relationships, learn from others, and bring BeeJay’s Experience into new opportunities that align with long-term growth.

What advice would you give to other founders?
Stay consistent and don’t cut corners on quality or standards. Don’t wait for everything to be perfect before you start. Be ready to learn and adjust quickly. Your name and reputation mean everything.

What does a typical day look like for you?
My days start early with prep, menu planning, inventory checks, and coordinating orders. From there it’s cooking, managing staff, working with clients, and making sure every detail is right. No two days are the same, but every day is focused on delivering excellence.

Coffee order or go-to snack?
Black coffee with sugar.

What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?
People see the final product, but not always what goes on behind the scenes. Long hours, constant problem-solving, and pressure. I’m also very detail-oriented. Everything from presentation to flavor has to be right.

What should people come talk to you about?
Anything related to food, catering, or building a brand from the ground up. I’m always open to conversations about partnerships, events, and bringing people together through great food.

Motto:
Happiness is great food and great company.

With a focus on quality, consistency, and community, Washington continues to grow BeeJay’s Experience while staying true to what matters most, creating food people remember and experiences that bring people together. As his business expands, he is supported by CenterState CEO, including INSPYRE, and remains committed to delivering excellence in every detail.
