VP of Innovation, Strategic Connector & Grandpa Syracuse

July 8, 2025

If you’ve ever wondered who’s cooking up the big-picture ideas behind INSPYRE’s growth, meet John Liddy, our Vice President of Innovation & Entrepreneurship. John leads the charge on strategy, partnerships and program development, while still finding time to connect with founders when it counts. We asked him a few quick questions—here’s what he had to say!

1. How do you help clients in our programs?

🧩 John: My job is to build and oversee the systems that support entrepreneurs—everything from program development to strategic partnerships. I occasionally get to work directly with founders (which I love), but we’ve got a stellar team of business advisors who are crushing it on the front lines.

2. What excites you most about the new Innovation Hub space?
🎬 John: Definitely the second-floor multipurpose theater. It’s going to be a gathering place for the region’s most creative minds—startups, support orgs, events—you name it. I can’t wait to see it filled with energy and innovation.

3. What’s your favorite thing about living in Syracuse?

🧤 John: My wife calls me “Grandpa Syracuse” because I’m such a homer. I’ve lived here most of my life and genuinely love it. Great people, tight-knit community, and I don’t mind the snow one bit.

4. Favorite downtown Syracuse spots?

🥘 John: Salt City Market is where it’s at. Delicious food, familiar faces—it’s the heartbeat of downtown.

5. What do you like to do outside of work?

🎿 John: I’m making the most of time with my son before college kicks off. Beyond that, you’ll find me skiing in the winter and golfing in the summer. Year-round adventure!
